Put out of my Missouri.

Wrap up:
The 30 hour whirlwind tour of Kansas City is over and here are my final thoughts.

*Don’t assume a city will have gentrified the neighborhood around their stadiums. My tragic assumption ended in tears as not only were there no restaurants around Kauffman/Arrowhead Stadiums, there were no businesses whatsoever.

*Frozen custard is quite tasty.

*If I ever make it back the Truman historical sites are top on the list below BBQ.

*Cabs are more expensive than NYC. $2.20 to get in and $1.70 per mile with the meter clicking at every 5th of a mile.

That’s about it. The people of KC are very…well, Midwestern. Polite, helpful, amiable in every way. That said, as much as I’d like to get back to see the Truman sites, I may very well be an old man.

Until my next assignment for Traveler Bill (fingers crossed!)

  1. How was the bar-b-que out there, anyway? I hear it’s supposed to be great.

  2. Well Anonymous…if that IS your real name…the bbq at the stadium was painfully good.

But let me ‘splain…while the quality was better that one can typically find in NYC, it was painful because if that’s how good the Stadium ‘Q is, I can only weep at how tasty the genuine article would have been.
